FOUR CANUCKS PROSPECTS INVITED TO THE 2024 WORLD JUNIOR SUMMER SHOWCASE

Are you in need of a Vancouver Canucks hockey fix?

If so, you’ll have a few options in just a few weeks, as the team will have four representatives at this year’s World Junior Summer Showcase.

As the last team to do so, Team Canada announced its roster for the upcoming event on Tuesday morning. The list includes two Canucks prospects: recent sixth-round draft pick Anthony Romani and 2023 third-rounder Sawyer Mynio.

Romani is fresh off an explosive year in the Ontario Hockey League, posting a whopping 58 goals and 111 points. The Pickering, Ontario native, is one of just two sixth-round (and above) picks announced to the team.

Mynio, meanwhile, is coming off a career year himself, posting 16 goals to finish fifth among WHL defencemen and 53 points as a member of the Seattle Thunderbirds.

They join a pair of fellow Canucks’ prospects already announced for the tournament, both representing Team Sweden. The Canucks’ 2023 first-rounder, Tom Willander, is expected to play a prominent role from the backend. Meanwhile, Melvin Fernström, a recent third-rounder, will also be taking part in the event.

The annual event serves as a training camp for coaches to evaluate and finalize their rosters for the upcoming 2025 World Junior Championship, held in Ottawa, Canada. The Summer Showcase will be held from July 26 to August 3 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan and will feature teams from the U.S., Canada (split teams), Finland, and Sweden.
