CALGARY FLAMES SIGN JAKOB PELLETIER TO ONE-YEAR, TWO-WAY CONTRACT

As first reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Calgary Flames have signed Jakob Pelletier to a one-year, two-way contract worth $800,000.

Pelletier was in the final year of his entry-level contract with the Flames which held an AAV of $863,333.

Pelletier spent the 2023-24 season with the Calgary Flames and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Calgary Wranglers. Pelletier recorded one goal and three points with the Flames and tallied five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 18 AHL games. He added three points in six Calder Cup Playoff contests.

Prior to the 2023-24 season, Pelletier underwent surgery on his left shoulder, causing him to miss the first three months of the season. The Quebec City, Quebec native struggled with injuries again last season, and again missed time after he took a hard hit from New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba.

Pelletier was oringally selected in the first round, No. 26 overall by the Flames in the 2019 NHL Draft. He spent three seasons in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Moncton Wildcats and the Val-d’Or Foreurs. Pelletier racked up 275 points in 210 QMJHL games and was awarded the QMJHL Most Sportsmanlike Trophy in 2019-20.

Pelletier has played 37 games with the Flames across his first three seasons with the organization, scoring four goals and six assists for 10 points He has appeared in 119 AHL games. dating back to when Calgary’s AHL affiliate was in Stockton, California. Pelletier has tallied 48 goals and 63 assists for 111 points, and he has added 17 points in 22 Calder Cup playoff contests.
